Kathleen Baird

Kathleen's interest in contemporary jewellery first started as she was studying Fine and Applied Arts in Belfast. But it is not until after finishing her degree that she started designing and making jewellery pieces. In 2005 she decided to improve her skills and studied in Birmingham's School of Jewellery.
In her research, Kathleen is interested in creating a 'visual rythm' by the repetition of the unit and/or the use of the line. Ideas arise and are developed as she manipulates the metal. New designs are created while experimenting with surface finish, scale, composition and shapes.

Gold detailing in combination with silver is used to highlight the importance of 'the line' in her work.

Her pieces are clean lined and minimal.
